
Universal Music New Zealand Names Two New Co-Managing Directors in Leadership Change
Universal Music New Zealand's Adam Holt will retire as Managing Director & Chairman on April 30, 2025, after 24 years of leadership and 34 years with UMG. Myra Hemara and Matt Kidd will succeed him as Co-Managing Directors starting May 1, 2025, reporting to Universal Music Australia & New Zealand President Sean Warner.

Warner praised Holt's exemplary commitment to the company, artists, and New Zealand music industry, highlighting his role in promoting positive culture and earning respect from employees and artists alike.
Holt expressed pride in his achievements, stating, "Leading the New Zealand company for UMG has been the experience of my life," while thanking Sir Lucian Grainge and Sean Warner for their trust.
The new leadership team brings substantial experience:
Myra Hemara:
- Joined UMNZ in 2006
- Established the label's digital department
- Appointed General Manager in 2017
- Led international artist marketing and audience development
Matt Kidd:
- 12 years with UMNZ
- Started in promotions and public relations
- Led domestic repertoire and business development
- Focused on global expansion of New Zealand talent since 2017
The transition will be supported by UMNZ Chief Financial Officer & Commercial Director Tony Jenks, forming a strong executive leadership team focused on driving continued success for Universal Music New Zealand.
Both new Co-Managing Directors expressed excitement about their roles, with Hemara focusing on fostering connection, creativity, and collaboration, while Kidd emphasized driving excellence and innovation for artists in New Zealand and globally.
