The family confirmed his passing through a statement on social media, celebrating his life as "a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love." They thanked fans and supporters for standing by him throughout his journey.
OG Maco's career began with the viral success of "U Guessed It," which led to his signing with Quality Control Music. Throughout his life, he faced several health challenges, including a serious car accident in 2016 and a battle with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare skin condition that required multiple surgeries.
The rapper had been in intensive care since December 12, following an apparent suicide attempt. Despite early rumors of his passing circulating on social media, his family initially confirmed he was in critical condition before announcing his death on December 27.
During his battle with necrotizing fasciitis, Maco had shared his journey on Instagram, stating, "So much healing has occurred thanks to God and my doctors that I'm willing to show all a fraction of what I've been going through. I was improperly treated for a minor rash and ended up with a skin eating disease for the last few months. This is the best it's looked. I hope it gives someone hope."
