Neil Young Cancels Glastonbury Performance Over BBC's Corporate Involvement
Neil Young has canceled his scheduled appearance at the 2025 Glastonbury festival, citing concerns over corporate influence and the BBC's involvement as a festival partner.
Young announced via his official website that he and his band The Chrome Hearts withdrew after receiving requests from the BBC that didn't align with their preferences. While specific details weren't disclosed, Young expressed disappointment over what he perceives as increased corporate control of the festival.
"We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour because it is a corporate turn-off, and not for me like it used to be," Young stated, referencing his previous performance at the festival in 2009. He encouraged fans to catch the band at other venues during their upcoming tour.

The 2025 Glastonbury festival is scheduled for June 25-29. While the complete lineup hasn't been announced, Rod Stewart is confirmed to perform for the first time since 2002. Neither Glastonbury organizers nor the BBC have responded to requests for comment.
This isn't Young's first stance against corporate entities. In 2022, he temporarily removed his music from Spotify in protest of Joe Rogan's podcast, though his catalog returned to the platform in March 2024.
