Joe Budden Blasts Drake as a 'Karen' While Lamenting Hip-Hop's Current State - 'I Miss the Original Drake'
Joe Budden has criticized Drake's recent behavior, particularly his lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), calling the Canadian rapper a "Karen" who's damaging hip-hop culture.

On The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden accused Drake of code-switching – acting like a "Karen" with the UMG lawsuit while simultaneously associating with Top5, who recently made threatening remarks about Kendrick Lamar.
"If you a Karen, be a Karen, but you code-switching," Budden stated, expressing frustration with Drake's contradictory behavior. "Don't be that and also Karen. I don't like it. It's nasty and disgusting."
Budden expressed nostalgia for Drake's earlier persona, describing him as "the n—a with the Blackberry and the corny T-shirts that couldn't dress with no beard that everybody just wanted to get next to and get some of that corny sauce."
He also lamented the current state of hip-hop culture, noting the lack of unity and authenticity. "There's no unity in hip-hop [anymore], none of y'all know what culture means," Budden said, criticizing Drake's approach of playing both aggressor and victim in rap beefs.
Budden concluded by suggesting that while younger generations might embrace the current version of hip-hop, it's far removed from the culture he originally fell in love with.
