Jay-Z Demands Accuser Reveal Identity in Diddy Lawsuit, Files Court Motion Against Anonymous Claims
Jay-Z's legal team has filed a motion demanding that the Jane Doe accuser who named him in a lawsuit alongside Diddy must reveal her identity. The accuser alleges that both Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Sean "Diddy" Combs sexually assaulted her at a VMAs afterparty in 2000 when she was 13 years old.

Carter's attorney, Alex Spiro, argues that his client deserves to know his accuser's identity, stating that Carter shouldn't have to "defend himself in the brightest of spotlights against an accuser who hides in complete darkness." The legal team characterizes the allegations as "patently false" and part of a "campaign of extortion" by attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents multiple accusers in cases against Combs.
While sexual abuse plaintiffs can sometimes proceed anonymously if there's a significant risk of retaliation, such cases are uncommon. Judges have already required other Jane Doe accusers in related civil suits against Combs to reveal their identities.
The lawsuit initially referred to Carter as "Celebrity A" before being amended to name him directly. Buzbee, who claims to represent 120 alleged victims of Combs, has filed over a dozen civil lawsuits on behalf of these plaintiffs, many seeking anonymity.
