Sony Music is releasing an extensive Bob Dylan live collection titled "Bob Dylan — The 1974 Live Recordings" on September 20 via Columbia/Legacy. This massive boxed set features 27 CDs containing 431 tracks, including 417 previously unreleased recordings from his historic 1974 tour with The Band.

The collection complements Dylan's existing live album from that tour, "Before the Flood," which fans have long considered insufficient in capturing the complete tour experience. The new release includes all recorded performances from the tour, including the dozen tracks from L.A.'s Forum that appeared on the original "Before the Flood" album.

While a complete vinyl version isn't planned due to its size (which would require approximately 50 records), Third Man Records will release a special condensed vinyl edition. This three-LP set plus a 7-inch single will feature one carefully selected version of each song not included on "Before the Flood." This green-vinyl edition, titled "The 1974 Live Recordings — The Missing Songs From Before the Flood," will be available exclusively through Third Man's Vault subscription service, with sign-ups closing July 31.

This release stands separate from Dylan's "Bootleg Series" and follows the format of previous comprehensive live collections like the 14-CD "Rolling Thunder Revue" (2019) and the 36-disc "The 1966 Live Recordings" (2016).
