YouTube also plans to provide production facilities to affected creators and artists once it's safe to reopen their regional offices. The platform will organize community events to support recovery efforts across the entertainment industry.
"Los Angeles is the heart of entertainment and storytelling and has an impact on culture all over the world," said YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, emphasizing the platform's commitment to supporting its creative community.
Other major tech companies have also contributed to the relief efforts:
- Snap: $5 million in immediate aid from the company and its co-founders
- Meta: $4 million combined donation from Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, and the company, including advertising credits
- Additional support from entertainment companies including Disney, Comcast, Paramount, Universal, Netflix, Amazon, and Warner Bros. Discovery
Meta has also activated its Safety Check feature, which has helped over 400,000 people inform their loved ones about their safety during the crisis.
