In response to the looming US TikTok ban, Americans have turned to Rednote, another Chinese-owned social media platform, with over 1.1 million downloads in the past week - a staggering 2,770% increase from previous figures.

Rednote (known as Xiaohongshu in China) has seen global success with 4.3 million total downloads. The distribution by country shows:
- United States: 1,137,241
- China: 869,778
- Mexico: 185,607
- United Kingdom: 181,644
- Indonesia: 179,394
Notable celebrities making the switch to Rednote include TikTok stars Bella Poarch and Loren Gray, along with singers Sabrina Carpenter and Selena Gomez.
Other platforms are also experiencing shifts in user behavior:
- Lemon8 (owned by ByteDance): 2 million worldwide downloads, up 50% week-over-week
- Instagram: 63.6 million global downloads, up 11% month-over-month
- TikTok: 17% decrease ($31 million) in global in-app purchase revenue in January compared to December 2024
