A major data breach at Ticketmaster has prompted hacking group ShinyHunters to demand an $8 million ransom from Live Nation, up from their initial $1 million request, after discovering Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticketing data among the stolen information.

The breach reportedly includes 193 million ticketing barcodes, including 440,000 Taylor Swift tickets valued at $22 billion. The compromised data encompasses:

  • 980 million sales orders
  • 680 million order details
  • 1.2 billion party lookup records
  • 440 million unique email addresses
  • 4 million uncased and de-duped records
  • 560 million Address Verification System detail records
  • 400 million encrypted credit card details with partial information

The exposed data includes barcode values and seat details for upcoming events, including a three-night Taylor Swift Eras Tour performance at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (November 1-3, 2024). This creates potential risks for counterfeit ticket creation and fraudulent sales, similar to the incident at a Bad Bunny concert in Mexico City in 2022.

The breach also exposes host account creation dates and VAX account numbers, making users vulnerable to phishing attempts and social engineering attacks. According to ShinyHunters, this represents the largest publicly disclosed non-scrape breach of customer Personally Identifiable Information to date, potentially rivaling the scale of the Equifax hack.
