Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino faces a mandatory deposition in the Astroworld tragedy litigation after the Texas Supreme Court denied the company's petition to block his testimony.

The court ruled against Live Nation's argument that Rapino was an "apex" executive too far removed from festival decisions. Evidence showed his direct involvement, including a crucial email he sent the night of the disaster stating, "If 5 died we would cancel," regarding the festival's continuation.

The deposition relates to the 2021 Astroworld festival tragedy during Travis Scott's performance, which resulted in 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. While some lawsuits have been settled privately, many victims and families continue to pursue legal action against Live Nation, Scott, and other parties, with total damages sought in the billions.

The timing of Rapino's deposition has not yet been announced.
