A major ticket scam has defrauded approximately 400 Taylor Swift fans in Canada, resulting in losses exceeding $300,000. The scam primarily targeted fans in Burlington, Ontario, who attempted to purchase tickets for Swift's Eras Tour show in Toronto.

The scammer, identified only as "Denise," claimed to have access to corporate tickets through a third-party seller. She built credibility within the local community through Facebook and personal connections, with many victims reporting that mutual acquaintances had vouched for her reliability.

Victims paid around $2,500 for sets of tickets, with Denise promising delivery just days before the November 15 Toronto show - similar to Ticketmaster's official delivery timeline. However, when delivery day arrived, Denise claimed her corporate contact had failed to provide the tickets.

Key details about the scam:

  • Approximately 450 tickets were promised to victims
  • Affected fans span multiple provinces and some U.S. locations
  • Victims have created a shared Google document tracking losses
  • Total reported losses exceed $300,000

When contacted by CTV News, Denise claimed she had filed a police report and was herself a victim of the supposed corporate ticket supplier. The Halton Regional Police Financial Crimes Unit has confirmed they are investigating multiple complaints regarding the scheme.

The police advise residents to exercise caution when purchasing tickets from unofficial sources, as the investigation continues into this widespread ticket fraud.
