A2IM Launches CEO Search as Richard Burgess Plans 2026 Departure
The American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) has officially launched its search for a new CEO, following current president and CEO Richard Burgess's announcement to step down at the beginning of 2026.

A2IM, representing over 750 member companies in the United States, seeks a dynamic leader who will:
- Set strategy for both the 501(c)(6) membership trade organization and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
- Lead copyright expertise and industry partnerships
- Create and maintain a viable ecosystem for independent recorded music labels
- Navigate evolving challenges in AI, streaming compensation, and industry consolidation
