Addressing the backlash on Instagram Live, Snoop maintained his stance, stating, "Y'all can't hate enough on me. I love too much… Still a black man, still 100 percent black."
The rapper's apparent shift in stance toward Trump may be attributed to the former president's pardon of Death Row Records co-founder Michael "Harry O" Harris, who was serving a 25-year-to-life sentence. Snoop had actively advocated for Harris' clemency. In a Sunday Times interview, Snoop acknowledged Trump's positive impact, saying, "He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris."
Other celebrities facing similar backlash include:
- Kim Kardashian: Lost nearly 150,000 followers after sharing Melania Trump's inauguration outfit
- DJ 3LAU: Defended his Starlight Ball performance as "an honor"
- Jewel: Apologized to fans and the LGBTQ+ community after performing at Robert F. Kennedy's event
Jewel defended her decision by emphasizing the urgency of addressing mental health issues: "If I wait to try until I agree 100% with the people that might be willing to help me, I'd never get off the bench. [...] We have to act now. We cannot wait another four years."
