The Notorious B.I.G. estate is reportedly negotiating a significant catalog sale with Primary Wave, potentially valued at up to $300 million.

The deal, which comes shortly after the passing of Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace, could include multiple revenue streams:

  • Publishing rights: Estimated at $100 million
  • Recording rights: Valued between $30-50 million
  • Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights: Primary Wave would acquire a 50% interest

The timing is particularly noteworthy as Voletta Wallace, who played a crucial role in managing Biggie's estate, recently passed away. The artist's children, T'yanna Wallace (31) and C.J. Wallace (28), are now the primary stakeholders.

Primary Wave, though not officially confirming the deal, has a track record of successful estate partnerships, including recent agreements with Scott Weiland, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Ric Ocasek's estates.

This potential sale reflects the continued strong demand in the music catalog market, following other recent major transactions including:

  • Warner Music's acquisition of Tempo Music catalog
  • Reservoir Media's purchase of New State
  • T-Pain's catalog sale to HarbourView Equity
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers' rumored $350 million recordings deal

Separately, the Biggie estate recently resolved a copyright dispute in January 2024 and initiated a new lawsuit regarding the "King of New York" photo in February 2025.
