NFL Extends Jay-Z Partnership Despite Recent Super Bowl Controversy
The NFL has renewed its partnership with Jay-Z and Roc Nation to continue overseeing the Super Bowl halftime show and social justice initiatives, according to Bloomberg. This extension follows the successful initial five-year, $25 million deal established in 2019.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating it's been "mutually positive." Under Jay-Z's leadership, the halftime show has featured prominent Black artists including The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, and the historic performance featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent.
The announcement comes amid controversy surrounding Lil Wayne's exclusion from this year's New Orleans Super Bowl performance. Despite a social media campaign supporting Wayne's hometown performance, Kendrick Lamar was selected as the headliner. Lil Wayne expressed his disappointment on Instagram, saying the decision "broke me."
While specific terms of the new contract remain undisclosed, the partnership's continuation signals the NFL's commitment to diversifying its entertainment offerings and advancing social justice initiatives.
