Meta Partners with Reuters to Power AI Chatbot with Real-Time News Content
Meta has signed a multi-year partnership with Reuters to incorporate news content into its AI chatbot's responses. Users in the US can now receive real-time news and information from Reuters when asking questions about current events through Meta's AI features on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

The AI chatbot will cite Reuters stories and provide direct links to their content, with Reuters receiving compensation for their reports. This marks Meta's first major AI news partnership, aimed at providing users with trustworthy information directly through the chatbot interface.
This agreement follows Meta's recent expanded partnership with Universal Music Group, which addressed unauthorized AI-generated content. The company is also reportedly in discussions with Apple for a potential generative AI collaboration, despite their historical rivalry.
Meta's spokesperson emphasized that while users primarily utilize Meta AI for creative tasks and how-to assistance, this Reuters partnership will enhance the experience for those seeking current events information.
