The fund will support both mobile and mixed reality content development, making the platform accessible to users without Quest headsets. Creators in eligible countries can earn through the Meta Horizon Creator Program, which has expanded to include 18 new countries beyond its initial launch in the US, UK, and Canada.

Key features of the program:

  • Monthly bonus payouts based on world engagement metrics
  • Earnings tied to time spent, retention, and in-world purchases
  • $1 million mobile-focused competition launching March 11
  • Available to creators aged 13 and above

The new desktop editor includes:

  • Traditional 2D and 3D development workflow support
  • Custom model import capabilities
  • TypeScript support for complex game logic
  • Mobile optimization tools
  • Generative AI tools (US only) for sound effects and ambient audio

This initiative mirrors Roblox's Creator Fund structure, though Meta's approach rewards creators based on engagement rather than providing upfront funding.
