The award was particularly meaningful as Armin van Buuren himself presented Garrix with the honor. "I'm on the list with all my idols. I look up to Armin, I look up to Tiësto. To be in there with those guys is very surreal," Garrix remarked during his acceptance.
2024 has been exceptional for Garrix, featuring:
- His seventh consecutive headline residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza
- Worldwide festival performances
- His track "Breakaway" being covered by Coldplay at Glastonbury
As the youngest DJ ever to reach No.1 in DJ Mag's rankings, Garrix continues to influence electronic dance music globally. The celebration at AMF featured performances by notable artists including Tiësto, Timmy Trumpet, Maddix, and Showtek.
This achievement creates a historic tie between two Dutch DJs - Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren - each now holding five No.1 DJ titles, marking a significant moment in electronic dance music history.
