Jay-Z Fights Sexual Assault Lawsuit, Claims Major Inconsistencies in Victim's Story
Jay-Z is seeking dismissal of a sexual assault lawsuit, citing significant inconsistencies in the accuser's testimony during a recent NBC News interview. The lawsuit, filed by an anonymous plaintiff, alleges the assault occurred at a VMAs afterparty in 2000 when the accuser was 13 years old.

Key inconsistencies highlighted by Jay-Z's legal team include:
- The accuser's father denies picking her up after the alleged incident
- A non-party celebrity denies being present at or speaking with the plaintiff at the afterparty
- Location discrepancies between the suit's description and photographic evidence
- Conflicting accounts of where the assault allegedly took place
The plaintiff's attorney, Tony Buzbee, who represents over 200 individuals in sexual assault cases against Diddy, maintains his client's allegations. The accuser attributes her father's contradicting account to memory issues and clarifies that the assault location was different from the club mentioned in reports.
Jay-Z's legal team argues these inconsistencies warrant immediate dismissal, stating: "Basic facts in her narrative – the who, what, when, and where – are wrong." They contend that allowing the case to proceed would harm Jay-Z's reputation and "silence the voices of true victims."
The case remains pending as Jay-Z's team prepares to file a motion to strike. Separately, the 24-time Grammy winner is also facing renewed paternity claims from an alleged illegitimate son.
