Grammy Awards 2025 Raises $24M for Fire Relief Despite 9% Viewership Drop
Despite a 9% viewership decline to 15.4 million viewers in 2025, the Grammy Awards generated $24 million for LA wildfire relief efforts. This marks the end of a three-year streak of increasing viewership, down from 17 million viewers in 2024.

The show, broadcast on CBS and Paramount+, prioritized fundraising and relief efforts over marketing activities. The $24 million total includes contributions from:
- $9 million raised during the Grammy ceremony
- MusiCares' annual fundraising tribute concert honoring The Grateful Dead
- The Clive Davis pre-Grammy Gala
The ceremony featured tributes to emergency workers, locally-focused commercials, and stories of fire victims. LA-based band Dawes, who lost their homes in the fires, opened the show with Randy Newman's "I Love L.A.," later released as a benefit single.
The LA wildfires caused devastating damage:
- 29 lives lost
- 16,000 homes and buildings destroyed
- Estimated $250 billion in damages and economic loss
This focuses on relief efforts overshadowed the typical Grammy glamour, with several pre and post-show events canceled to support affected communities.
