The Associated Press faced backlash after abruptly ending an interview with R&B legend Babyface on the Grammys red carpet to chase after artist Chappell Roan.

During AP's live coverage, reporters Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria were discussing genre-blending trends with Babyface when Fauria suddenly began calling out to Roan. Babyface graciously handed back the microphone, allowing the reporters to pursue their new target.

The incident sparked immediate criticism on social media, with notable figures including Dionne Warwick and Khloé Kardashian condemning the disrespectful treatment. Warwick shared the definition of "decorum" while tagging AP, while Kardashian emphasized Babyface's significant impact on the music industry.

Babyface maintained his composure, with his representative Ernest Dukes releasing a gracious statement: "The best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists, and feeling all the love in the room. That's what I'll remember. Music is bigger than any one moment."

The Associated Press issued an apology on X/Twitter, stating they were "deeply sorry" for cutting the interview short and had apologized to both Babyface and their viewers. Reporter Krysta Fauria also personally apologized, citing the red carpet's chaotic nature while affirming her respect for Babyface.

This incident highlighted the importance of showing proper respect to industry veterans, particularly someone of Babyface's stature who has significantly influenced multiple genres of music over decades.
