Facebook India's Director Manish Chopra emphasized the company's commitment to music-driven experiences, particularly highlighting the '90s content from Tips Music that will enhance user engagement across both platforms.
The deal's impact was immediately reflected in Tips Industries' stock performance, with shares rising 12.5% to $4.42 (₹325.25), marking a tripling in value since early 2020.
This partnership is part of Facebook's broader music strategy in India, which includes:
- Launch of licensed music videos
- Securing major label licenses for Facebook Gaming
- $5.7 billion investment in JioSaavn parent company Reliance Jio
- Introduction of "Reels" to compete with TikTok
The agreement comes at a strategic time as India's digital music landscape evolves, with recent developments including:
- TikTok's ban in India (formerly 200 million monthly active users)
- Spotify's 100,000-track deal with Saregama
- Warner Music Group's Mumbai headquarters launch
The partnership demonstrates Facebook's commitment to expanding its music offerings in India's rapidly growing digital market, while providing Tips Music with broader distribution channels for its content.
