Drake Files Second Legal Challenge Against UMG Over Defamatory 'Not Like Us' Release
Drake has filed a second legal petition against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," expanding his claims to include iHeartRadio in a Texas court filing.

The new petition alleges UMG participated in a "pay-to-play scheme" with iHeartRadio to promote the song. Drake claims UMG knowingly released the track despite its defamatory content, which he says falsely portrays him as a "certified pedophile."
Key points from the legal filings:
- Both documents are "pre-action" petitions seeking depositions, not formal lawsuits
- Drake's lawyers claim to have evidence for defamation charges
- They're seeking additional information for potential civil fraud and racketeering claims
- The filings target UMG and iHeartRadio, not Kendrick Lamar directly
"UMG [...] could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed," Drake's lawyers stated. Instead, they claim UMG deliberately promoted the song to generate "massive revenues" despite potential harm to Drake's reputation.
This legal action highlights growing tensions between Drake and UMG, his career-long label. For hip-hop fans, Drake's legal admission of harm from "Not Like Us" may represent a significant development in the ongoing Drake-Lamar feud.
