West posted several controversial statements on X, including "I'm a Nazi" and "I love Hitler," while declaring he would not apologize for his antisemitic remarks. The posts came shortly after his controversial appearance at the Grammy Awards.
Schwimmer addressed Musk directly through Instagram, highlighting that West's 32.7 million X followers represent twice the global Jewish population. He emphasized that West's "hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews" and argued that while hate speech can't be prevented, platforms can choose not to amplify it.
The Anti-Defamation League's CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt condemned West's posts as "a sad attempt for attention that uses Jews as a scapegoat," warning about the real-world consequences of such rhetoric given West's extensive platform.
The American Jewish Committee also issued a statement expressing concern about the influence of West's comments on his millions of followers, particularly as antisemitism reaches "terrifying levels worldwide."
Other public figures joining the criticism include Meghan McCain, who described West as "truly demonic," and Piers Morgan, who questioned Musk's decision to maintain West's access to the platform. However, observers note that the overall public response has been notably muted compared to previous incidents involving West's antisemitic statements.
