The TICKET Act addresses several critical consumer protection measures in the live event ticketing industry:
- Mandatory all-in pricing to eliminate hidden fees
- Ban on speculative ticketing and deceptive marketing
- Guaranteed refunds for cancelled or postponed events
- Required FTC study on BOTS Act enforcement
"Consumers deserve fair, transparent, and reliable ticketing practices, and the TICKET Act delivers just that," states John Breyault, NCL Vice President of Public Policy, Telecommunications, and Fraud. "Hidden fees, speculative ticketing, and deceptive marketing practices have plagued the live event industry for far too long."
While the original TICKET Act came close to becoming law last year, it faced obstacles during the presidential transition. The current version aims to create a more equitable and transparent live event ticketing marketplace, protecting millions of fans from unfair practices and hidden costs.
This legislation represents a significant step forward in consumer protection within the live entertainment industry, addressing long-standing issues that have frustrated ticket buyers for years.
