Several terminated employees have reported never receiving notice of the meeting. One former intern stated, "I received no notice of a meeting. In the Slack workspace, they didn't give me access to the division I was supposed to end up at."

Key issues revealed by former employees:

  • No advance meeting notification
  • Lack of access to relevant Slack channels
  • Scheduling conflicts due to remote work across different time zones
  • Long-term workers terminated without warning
  • All affected workers were unpaid

The Musicians Club primarily targeted classical music students seeking work experience. A recent job listing for an unpaid operations manager position promised "practical experience" and potential "full-time paid conversion in 2025," attracting 51 applicants.

Former employees are criticizing the company's business model, which relies heavily on unpaid remote interns. Oddsson defended his decision on LinkedIn, stating it was the right choice for his business despite public criticism.

The incident highlights growing concerns about unpaid internships and remote work management practices in the music industry, particularly affecting young professionals seeking to enter the field.
