Canadian Hacker Behind Ticketmaster and Snowflake Breaches Arrested
Hacker arrested over Ticketmaster data breach
Canadian authorities have arrested Alexander Moucka (also known as Connor Moucka), the suspected Snowflake hacker responsible for breaching over 165 Snowflake instances, including major companies like Ticketmaster, AT&T, and LendingTree.
The arrest occurred on October 30, 2024, following a request from the United States. Prior to his arrest, the suspect (using the alias Judsiche) had expressed concerns about imminent arrest and claimed to have destroyed evidence.
The breach significantly impacted Ticketmaster's operations, leading to:
- Multiple extortion attempts
- Unauthorized release of Taylor Swift concert tickets
- Claims of ability to generate 30 million barcodes for various events
- Widespread reports of missing tickets from customer accounts
In response, Ticketmaster implemented security measures, including temporary suspension of Taylor Swift ticket resales until shortly before event dates. The company has processed thousands of customer complaints regarding missing tickets.
The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2024, as confirmed by the Canadian Department of Justice.
