BRIT Awards 2025 Sparks Over 800 Ofcom Complaints After Carpenter's Provocative Performance
The 2025 BRIT Awards ceremony has attracted over 800 complaints to Ofcom, with Sabrina Carpenter's performance drawing the most attention.

Carpenter's medley performance of "Espresso," "Bed Chem," and "Rule Britannia!" featured costume changes from a King's Guard-inspired outfit to a red teddy with stockings. The provocative performance included dancers on a pink and purple heart bed set.
Additional complaints targeted Charli XCX, who won five awards during the ceremony. During one acceptance speech, she addressed ITV's apparent concerns about her black dress, saying "I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples. I feel like we're in the era of 'free the nipple' though, right?"
An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed they received 825 total complaints and are currently assessing them against their broadcasting rules. For context, this number is relatively small compared to previous incidents, such as the 58,000 complaints received in 2021 regarding Piers Morgan's comments about Meghan Markle.
The timing of the performances may factor into any potential investigation, as the BRIT Awards aired from 8:15 pm to 10:40 pm, spanning the UK's 9:00 pm watershed when adult content restrictions are relaxed.
