The incident began when police pulled over Ice-T's Porsche 911 for missing a front license plate, which is required in both New Jersey and New York. Officers then discovered his license and registration had been expired since 2021.

During the stop, Ice-T explained he was actually en route to the Department of Motor Vehicles to update his registration. He claimed the Porsche had been parked since expiration and mentioned he was working on updating registrations for all seven of his vehicles.

The situation escalated when an officer suggested towing the vehicle. Ice-T became visibly upset, stating "You're not finna tow my vehicle. Let me park it right here." When asked to surrender his keys, Ice-T insisted "If I'm not under arrest, I'm getting out of the car" and exited the vehicle, pointing out to the bodycam that he was "a foot away from the DMV."

The confrontation was ultimately resolved when a superior officer arrived on scene. Ice-T received four citations, including one for driving with a suspended license.
