A federal court has ordered Altice USA to disclose the identities of up to 100 subscribers accused of copyright infringement by Warner Music Group (WMG) and Sony Music Entertainment (SME).

Under the court order, Altice must notify the affected subscribers of their intent to share their personal information, including names, telephone numbers, addresses, and email addresses with the record labels. Subscribers have 30 days to object before their information is released.

This development follows a series of legal disputes between Altice and major record labels:

  • A previous settlement with BMG in a similar infringement case
  • An ongoing dispute over nearly 11,000 allegedly infringed works
  • Discovery disagreements regarding material transfer from the BMG case
  • Venue transfer and dismissal attempts by Altice

The trial is tentatively scheduled for September 2025. Altice stated in its 2024 earnings report that it plans to "vigorously defend against the claims" from WMG.

Meanwhile, Verizon faces similar copyright claims from all three major labels, with the company challenging the labels' theory of contributory liability in November 2024.
