
StubHub Hackers Arrested After Making $600K Reselling Stolen Taylor Swift Tickets
Two individuals have been arrested for orchestrating a cybercrime scheme that stole over 900 concert tickets, primarily targeting Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, resulting in approximately $635,000 in illegal profits.

The suspects, Tyrone Rose (20) from Kingston, Jamaica, and Shamara P. Simmons (31) from Jamaica, Queens, exploited their access through a third-party contractor called Sutherland to intercept StubHub ticket URLs between June 2022 and July 2023.
The scheme worked as follows:
- Rose and an accomplice accessed StubHub's secure network through their contractor positions
- They redirected ticket URLs to Simmons and another conspirator in Queens
- The redirected tickets were downloaded and resold on StubHub for profit
- The stolen tickets included access to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, Adele and Ed Sheeran concerts, NBA games, and US Open Tennis Championships
The defendants face charges including:
- Grand larceny in the second degree
- Computer tampering in the first degree
- Conspiracy in the fourth degree
- Computer tampering in the fourth degree
If convicted, they face 3-15 years in prison. The case, discovered through StubHub's vigilance, remains under investigation by the Queens District Attorney's Cybercrime and Cryptocurrency Unit.
Taylor Swift tickets were particularly valuable targets, with some Eras Tour tickets selling for up to $3,100 in Indianapolis, $3,000 in Vancouver, and $2,500 in Miami.
