Spotify Unveils Weekly 'Concerts Near You' Playlist to Help Users Find Local Shows
Spotify has launched "Concerts Near You," a personalized playlist that helps users discover upcoming live shows in their area. The playlist updates every Wednesday with 30 songs from artists performing locally, including event details and direct ticket purchase links.
The feature integrates with major ticketing platforms including Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, DICE, and AXS. Recommendations are tailored based on users' listening preferences to suggest relevant artists and events.

To get the most from this feature, users should:
- Enable location sharing in the Live Events section
- Turn on push notifications
- Follow favorite artists for personalized concert alerts
This launch coincides with Spotify's annual Loud & Clear report, which reveals that artists receiving one millionth of platform streams earned approximately $10,000 in 2024 - ten times more than a decade ago.
However, the platform faces ongoing criticism regarding artist compensation:
- Grammy-nominated songwriters recently boycotted Spotify's events over decreasing royalties
- Changes in Spotify's bundling system may result in $150 million losses for songwriters and publishers over 12 months
- Competitor platforms offer higher per-stream rates:
- Amazon Music: $8.80 per 1,000 streams
- Apple Music: $6.20 per 1,000 streams
- YouTube: $4.80 per 1,000 streams
- Spotify: $3.00 per 1,000 streams
While Spotify disputes these figures as "ridiculous and unfounded," the debate over fair artist compensation continues within the music industry.
