Spotify Teams Up with Google to Launch AI-Powered Wrapped Podcast Recap
Spotify has partnered with Google to create personalized AI-generated podcasts that provide an audio recap of users' yearly music listening habits, complementing the traditional Spotify Wrapped experience.
The podcast features two AI hosts powered by Google's NotebookLM, who analyze and discuss listeners' favorite tracks, artists, and musical evolution throughout the year.

- Share or download the podcast if desired
The feature is currently available in English for both Free and Premium users in select countries: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden. However, it's only accessible for a limited time.
This AI initiative comes amid changes at Spotify, including recent layoffs affecting 17% of its workforce. Notable among those affected was data engineer Glenn McDonald, creator of Every Noise at Once - a crucial tool that helped shape previous Wrapped experiences and Spotify's personalization features.
McDonald's departure has impacted the quality of this year's Wrapped statistics, as Every Noise is no longer maintained without access to Spotify's internal data. This change has led to mixed reactions from users, with many expressing disappointment in the 2024 Wrapped experience compared to previous years.
The AI podcast represents Spotify's attempt to innovate within the Wrapped format, though initial user response suggests varying levels of enthusiasm for this new feature.
