Snap's Q4 2024 performance highlights:

  • Revenue: $1.55 billion (up from $1.36 billion year-over-year)
  • Daily active users: 453 million (9% increase)
  • Net income: $9 million (compared to $248 million loss previous year)
  • Advertising revenue: $1.41 billion (10% increase)

The company attributes this growth partly to advertisers seeking platform diversification amid TikTok's uncertain future. "Advertisers are very focused on contingency planning and diversifying their spend," noted Spiegel during the earnings call. This sentiment extends to creators, who are increasingly looking to build presence across multiple platforms.

Creator engagement on Snapchat has surged, with the Snap Star program driving a 40% year-over-year increase in creator posts. The platform continues to enhance its creation tools and monetization options to support this growth.

Looking ahead, Snap projects:

  • Q1 2025 target: 459 million daily active users
  • Expected revenue: $1.32-1.36 billion
  • Operating expenses to increase 11-12%
  • Plans for a simplified Snapchat experience

Despite lower-than-expected Q1 earnings projections due to increased investments, including a $5 million donation to Los wildfire relief efforts, the platform remains optimistic about its growth trajectory and continues to capitalize on the current market dynamics.
