The payments came from two companies owned by Plant:
- Trolcharm Limited (established 1981): £3 million ($3.75 million)
- Sons of Einion Limited (established 1997): £4 million ($5 million)
Both companies handle different aspects of Plant's music business:
- Trolcharm Limited focuses on performing arts
- Sons of Einion Limited manages sound recording and music publishing activities
This significant payout coincides with several notable developments:
- The upcoming release of "Becoming Led Zeppelin" documentary in February
- Recent sale of a 10% stake in Led Zeppelin's catalog by Helen Grant (daughter of former manager Peter Grant)
- The catalog stake sale reportedly completed last summer, though the buyer and final price remain undisclosed
- Previous reports suggested an offer of approximately $10.6 million (£8.5 million) for the IP
Plant's revenue streams include both Led Zeppelin classics and successful solo work, such as his 1988 album "Now and Zen." The 76-year-old musician remains actively involved in both companies, serving as director alongside family members.
