Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond announced that 100% of the company's proceeds from purchases made this Friday will be donated to the ACLU. The protest, organized under the hashtag "#NoBanNoWall," has garnered support from prominent indie labels including Kill Rock Stars, Tompkins Square, and Merge Records.
Notable participants have committed to various forms of support:
- Son Lux will donate proceeds from "At War with Walls and Mazes" to the ACLU for four years
- Xiu Xiu pledged all Bandcamp revenues to the ACLU for the same period
- Some labels and artists are contributing to other organizations, such as the Nigerian Muslim Association of New York
Diamond, himself a descendant of immigrants, stated in his company-wide email: "We are a nation of immigrants, bound together by a shared belief in justice, equality, and the freedom to pursue a better life." He emphasized that the executive order "violates the very spirit and foundation of America."
