According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Garrett, who served as Minaj's day-to-day manager during her Pink Friday 2 tour, was summoned to her dressing room by her head of security. During the meeting, which included eight staff members, Minaj allegedly became upset over staff management issues and struck Garrett when he couldn't provide information about prescription pickups.
The complaint states that Minaj "open-handedly struck [Garrett] on the right side of his face, causing his head to swing backwards as his hat flew off his head." Garrett claims he suffered a wrist injury and subsequently locked himself in a restroom for several hours.
After the incident, Garrett was informed he would not continue with the tour to Chicago. He attempted to file a police report in Detroit but was unable to do so in person due to his flight schedule. He later contacted Chicago police for an escort to his hotel, citing safety concerns, and eventually filed an official report in Detroit.
Minaj's lawyer, Judd Burstein, has denied the allegations, stating they are "completely false and frivolous" while noting that no complaint has been officially served. The lawsuit seeks both punitive and exemplary damages, as well as general damages.
