Live Nation Seeks to Dismiss Discrimination Case Over Terminated LGBTQ Contractor Agreement
Live Nation recently filed a motion to dismiss a sexual orientation discrimination lawsuit from former contractor Braden Maurer-Burns, owner of Drag Diva. The case, originally filed in April 2023 in New Jersey, alleges discrimination based on sexual orientation.

According to the lawsuit, Maurer-Burns' company Drag Diva produced successful drag-related content and shows for Live Nation before the relationship was terminated. The plaintiff claims Live Nation ended the partnership citing "unproven allegations of harassment and misconduct," while continuing to work with other performers facing similar accusations.
The lawsuit alleges two violations of New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination:
- Limiting contracts with LGBT businesses and content makers
- Treating Maurer-Burns differently due to his sexual orientation
Live Nation's motion to dismiss argues that:
- Maurer-Burns was never personally party to a contract with Live Nation
- The lawsuit exceeds the two-year statute of limitations, as the contract ended in late 2019
- The complaint fails to prove decisions were based on sexual orientation
The plaintiff seeks various damages including:
- Financial compensation
- Emotional harm damages
- Psychological injury compensation
- Reinstatement
- Attorney and expert fees
- Punitive damages
