Live Nation Secures Operation of New 19,000-Seat Minnesota Amphitheater Coming to Shakopee in 2025
Live Nation has secured rights to operate a new 19,000-seat outdoor amphitheater in Shakopee, Minnesota, scheduled to open in 2025. The venue will be part of the $400 million Canterbury Commons entertainment district near Canterbury Park.

The state-of-the-art facility, developed by Swervo Development Corp., will feature:
- A sloped artificial turf lawn accommodating 5,000+ people
- Two elevated beer gardens
- VIP skyboxes for up to 500 people
- Panoramic views of the Minnesota River Valley
The venue is expected to:
- Host 30+ events each summer
- Create 700 new jobs
- Become Live Nation's second Minnesota venue alongside the Fillmore Minneapolis
- Join Live Nation's portfolio of 265+ North American concert venues
The Canterbury Commons development will also include:
- Nearly 1,000 apartment units
- A brewery
- Multiple restaurants
- A 28,000 square-foot office building
While Live Nation expands its venue portfolio, the company currently faces a Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit regarding alleged monopolistic practices in the live entertainment industry. The future of this legal action remains uncertain with potential changes in administration.
