A new documentary sequel, "Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson," will premiere on YouTube Real Stories in March, exclusively available in the US and Canada. The film continues the story of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who previously accused Michael Jackson of sexual assault during their childhood.

The hour-long documentary, directed by Dan Reed, follows Robson and Safechuck's pursuit of justice and documents the personal impact of going public with their accusations, including the subsequent backlash they faced. Little Dot Studios acquired the rights after HBO declined to co-produce following legal disputes with the Jackson estate.

Director Dan Reed emphasized the importance of accessibility, stating, "Premiering this film on YouTube is about breaking down barriers to access. Traditional platforms can only reach so many people, but YouTube offers an opportunity for this story to be seen by audiences on their own terms as it's freely available."

Key details about the documentary:

  • Producer: Marguerite Gaudin
  • Editors: Peter Haddon and Ben Hills
  • International distribution: Sphere Abacus
  • Platform: YouTube Real Stories (US and English-speaking Canada only)

This release adds to Real Stories' prestigious documentary collection, which includes works from renowned filmmakers Alex Gibney, Nick Broomfield, and Kim Longinotto.
