The controversy centers on lyrics that critics say inappropriately reference minors, specifically the line "A mamacita since she was 14 / When she walks into the club, you can feel her energy," performed by Feid, Maluma, and Castro.
In her Instagram statement, Karol G expressed that she feels "very affected" by the situation and acknowledged she has "so much to learn." She explained that the lyrics were "taken out of context" and that the song was intended to celebrate the unity of artists and highlight Colombian culture.
"As artists, we are exposed to public opinion," she stated in Spanish, taking full responsibility for the negative reactions while emphasizing that the interpretations differ from the song's intended meaning.
Fellow artists J Balvin and Feid have publicly supported Karol G, with Balvin stating, "You have given us so much glory, so this doesn't reduce your greatness. That song is ours, so we're going to support you unconditionally."
