The revelation came after his wife encouraged him to seek a reevaluation, noting that his behavior didn't align with typical bipolar symptoms. Following new medical assessments, doctors confirmed he was on the autism spectrum.
"I went to this doctor... and I've come to find that it's really a case of autism that I have," West explained during the interview.

West compared his experience to the 1988 film "Rain Man," describing how autism causes him to become hyper-focused on specific things. He acknowledged this trait influences his creative decisions, particularly in his music production.
Since receiving the new diagnosis, West has stopped taking bipolar medication and is exploring ways to maintain his creativity while managing his condition. "It's finding stuff that doesn't block the creativity, obviously that's what I bring to the world," he stated.
This diagnosis marks a significant shift in West's public mental health narrative. While some fans support his transparency, others remain cautious given his history of controversial statements. West hasn't specified how this diagnosis will affect his future work, but he continues to be open about his mental health journey.
The artist, now officially known as Ye, maintains that this new understanding of his condition provides better insight into his behavior and thought processes, potentially reshaping both public perception and his approach to mental health management.
