Historic Morrison Hotel, Famous From The Doors Album Cover, Destroyed in Los Angeles Fire
The historic Morrison Hotel in Los Angeles, famously featured on The Doors' fifth album cover, has been destroyed by fire. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the incident yesterday morning, initially observing light smoke before discovering substantial fires on the fourth floor that spread to the roof.

Over 100 firefighters spent 97 minutes battling the blaze, which was contained to the building without spreading to neighboring structures. Several dozen homeless individuals evacuated the premises, with some requiring assistance from first responders.
The LAFD has launched an active investigation into the fire's cause. While no injuries have been reported, a recovery team will search for potential remains once the structure is deemed safe to enter, as complete evacuation confirmation wasn't possible during the incident.
The 111-year-old building, vacant for over 15 years, had been earmarked for restoration as part of a broader redevelopment plan in the area. The project would have included renovating the historic structure and constructing an adjacent building to revitalize the surrounding blocks.
Doors members John Densmore and Robby Krieger haven't publicly commented on the fire, though Krieger, 78, shared Jim Morrison paintings on Instagram and is scheduled for a benefit concert on January 4th.
The Morrison Hotel had served as a frequent LAFD training site during its vacancy, and its destruction marks the loss of a significant piece of rock music history.
