
Grammy Winner Doechii's Path to Success Started After Getting Fired in 2020
Grammy-winning rapper Doechii's journey from being fired to achieving success has resurfaced in a 2020 YouTube video titled "I got fired thank God."

In the video, Doechii displays remarkable resilience while eating chips, stating, "Either way, I'mma be straight." She shares her immediate plan to visit studios for internship opportunities, emphasizing, "I have nothing to lose. I have no place, I have no job, I have no children. Who gives a f—k?"
Her determination paid off. Following the video, Doechii:
- Released her self-funded EP "Oh The Places You'll Go" (2020)
- Released two additional EPs (2021-2022)
- Signed with Top Dawg Entertainment
- Released "Alligator Bites Never Heal" mixtape (2024)
- Won Grammy for Best Rap Album (2025)
- Received Best New Artist nomination
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Doechii delivered an inspiring acceptance speech: "I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible."
She showcased her talent at the ceremony with performances of "Catfish" and "Denial is a River," and earned an additional nomination for Best Rap Performance for "Nissan Altima."
