Deon 'D1' Best, a former associate of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, plans to sue Diddy's mother, Janice Combs, over alleged fraudulent business practices at Bad Boy Entertainment.

Best, now 56, claims Diddy used his mother's name to conceal publishing rights and business dealings during the late 1990s. Through his company, Finish Line Entertainment, Best brokered deals for several albums, including Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Born Again,' but alleges the publishing rights were improperly assigned to Janice Combs.

The allegations align with previous claims from rapper Ma$e, who in 2020 stated that Diddy's mother was the custodian of various business deals. Best intends to pursue legal action under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

Best's connection to Diddy dates back to the late 1990s, when he served as a protector during Diddy and Notorious B.I.G.'s visits to Los Angeles. He was present the night of Biggie's death in March 1997 and claims he had warned the rapper to stay close that evening.

These allegations surface as Diddy faces federal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, with a trial scheduled for May 2025. The lawsuit's outcome could significantly impact Bad Boy Entertainment and influence similar industry practices regarding artists' publishing rights.
