Eric Clapton's Legendary MTV Unplugged Concert Returns to the Big Screen After 30 Years
Eric Clapton's legendary 1992 MTV Unplugged performance is getting a theatrical release with "Eric Clapton Unplugged... Over 30 Years Later." The remastered special will screen in select US and UK theaters on January 27 and 28, before arriving on Paramount+ on February 12.

The enhanced version features the original acoustic performances, including classics like "Tears in Heaven" and "Layla," along with previously unreleased footage and a new interview where Clapton discusses his musical influences.
The original Unplugged album sold 26 million copies worldwide, becoming the most successful live album ever recorded. Clapton, the only triple inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist and member of both the Yardbirds and Cream), has sold over 100 million records in his career.
This special release is a collaboration between MTV, Surfdog Records, and Surfdog producer John Logsdon. Bruce Gillmer and Vanessa Whitewolf serve as executive producers for MTV, alongside Clapton, Michael Eaton, and Dave Kaplan, with Alicia Portugal as series executive in charge and Lisa Lauricella as series music talent executive.
The project follows the successful theatrical re-release model of The Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense" by A24, though it arrives amid recent controversies surrounding Clapton's public statements about the COVID-19 pandemic.
