En Vogue Star Dawn Robinson Reveals Three-Year Journey Living in Her Car by Choice
Former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson has revealed she's been living in her car for nearly three years, sharing her story through her YouTube channel. Despite what many might assume, Robinson views this as a journey of self-discovery rather than hardship.

The transition began in 2020 when Robinson moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. After a housing arrangement with her former co-manager fell through and eight months of hotel living, she researched "car life" and made the conscious decision to live in her vehicle in Malibu.
Robinson maintains her daily routine through a gym membership for shower access and has developed safety protocols as a woman living alone. "That first night was scary," she admits, "but then I learned what to do in my car and how to do it safely."
The singer emphasizes this isn't a story of misfortune: "This is not like, 'Oh my God, poor Dawn.' I'm learning about who I am as a person, as a woman." She views her experience as transformative, noting how it's challenged her previous notions about lifestyle possibilities.
Currently, Robinson is documenting her experience for a potential documentary, which she hopes to sell to streaming platforms like Netflix. She maintains that this isn't a publicity stunt and believes more people will choose similar "off-grid" living arrangements due to economic factors and pandemic impacts.
Robinson was a founding member of En Vogue from 1989 until 2011, when she left due to disputes over a new album. While she briefly reunited with the group in 2019, planned tour discussions never materialized.
