Drake Dismisses Leaked Universal Music Group DMs as 'Completely Fake'
Drake has denied sending an Instagram DM to celebrity stylist Chris Blake Griffith regarding his ongoing legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG). The alleged message, which surfaced on Tuesday, was declared completely fabricated by the artist.

The disputed DM contained detailed explanations about Drake's legal actions against UMG, comparing his situation to "Nike funding a campaign about LeBron cheating on his wife." The message also discussed making the music industry "a safer place for every artist moving forward."
DJ Akademiks, Drake's associate, confirmed the message's inauthenticity on social media, stating that Griffith fabricated the DM after Drake called him "a rat."
The controversy comes amid Drake's ongoing legal battle with UMG, involving two pre-action petitions filed in November. These petitions allege:
- UMG used bots and payola schemes to artificially boost Kendrick Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us"
- The company committed defamation by releasing content with false allegations against Drake
Two crucial court hearings are scheduled:
- January 13: Hearing regarding Drake's request to depose UMG and iHeartMedia employees
- January 16: Second hearing concerning Drake's filing against UMG and Spotify
