The prestigious award celebrates Parton's lifetime commitment to enriching communities worldwide through music and philanthropy. Her selection was based on her remarkable impact on global audiences, dedication to children's education through the Imagination Library, and significant contribution to COVID-19 vaccine research funding.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. praised Parton's dedication to service, while Lee Satterfield, Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, commended her ability to unite people through music and her servant leadership.

The award selection process involves nominations from U.S. embassies worldwide, evaluated by a joint committee of Recording Academy members, State Department leadership, music industry professionals, and academics. Final approval comes from both the Recording Academy CEO and the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The celebration ceremony took place at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, where Parton accepted the award during an event that also launched the American Music Mentorship Program.
