During her Best New Artist acceptance speech, Roan advocated for better artist treatment, including livable wages and health insurance from record labels. Her message sparked immediate action, with artists Charli XCX and Noah Kahan each pledging $25,000 to support the cause.

Non-profit organization Backline launched the "We Got You! Campaign" in response, creating a dedicated fund for artists' mental health support. Additional $25,000 matching donations have come from major industry players including AEG Global Touring, Live Nation, and the Wasserman Foundation.

The movement has sparked broader industry discussions, including music executive Jeff Rabhan's controversial response and subsequent debate about artist support systems. Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic contributed to the conversation by sharing how his band secured health insurance through SAG membership after signing with Geffen Records.

In parallel developments, the Ivors Academy in London is addressing similar concerns, proposing reforms to improve songwriter compensation. Their suggestions include implementing minimum daily allowances for songwriters' expenses and new streaming service mechanisms to better reward composers.

The current system typically provides health coverage only to artists generating significant revenue, leaving emerging artists without protection. This growing movement, sparked by Roan's speech, continues to push for comprehensive industry reform to support artists at all career stages.
